Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Florida Atlantic University. The ME department is one of the five resident departments in the College of Engineering and Computer Science on the FAU Boca Raton campus. The department offers the Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Undergraduate courses are offered live on the Boca Raton campus and the Northern Palm Beach campus in Palm Beach Gardens. Graduate courses are offered live on the Boca Raton campus and through the FEEDS system throughout the State of Florida.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has thirteen faculty members with a wide range of expertise in combustion, computer-aided design, composite materials, control systems, fatigue and fracture of materials, fluid dynamics, helicopter dynamics, manufacturing systems, multi-phase flow, robotics, and stochastic processes to name a few. Each faculty member teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and most perform research in their area of expertise. Every faculty member is an advisor to a group of undergraduate students and is available to discuss and plan the student's program of courses.

In summary, our mission is to provide students with the fundamental background necessary for an active career in mechanical engineering, and for the continuation of their education through post-graduate studies; to conduct applied and basic research; and to provide service to the engineering profession and the community. I am very enthusiastic about leading the department in the coming years with the strong support of our dynamic faculty, hard working staff, and ambitious students.
